This is the bracket the mounts to the garage door and the opener arm attaches to this bracket.

UNPLUG THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER AND LOCK THE GARAGE DOOR

If this part has failed or was in the process of failing it is imperative that you inspect the remaining parts of the rail system. Be it a belt, chain, screw or cable / chain unit, closely inspect the following parts:

Carriage and inner slide, that is, the entire carriage and carriage assembly. This part is more apt to wear on belt drive models but does wear on chain and screw drives as well, lubricate the carriage at the point of attachment to the inner slide. That is the part that the carriage locks into.

Belt, chain, chain / cable or screw assembly. closely inspect for any signs of wear or damage. Lightly lube chain, lubriplate grease for screw drive, NO lubrication for belt drive units.

Both front and rear pulleys or gears. Hear is the common trouble area, closely inspect these pulleys or gears. The drive gear or pulley is easily effected if there is other damage to the rail system, such as the header bracket you are replacing. It is best to replace both the front and the read gear / pulleys as an assembly and not just replace a gear or a sprocket, there may be issues with the mounting portion of the gear and or sprocket that will lead to rapid and excessive wear. The price of an assembly is low and is a much better option.

Take the time to inspect the rail system, think about what caused the part failure in the first place and also if there was any further damage done after the part failure. Usually just talking your time and closely looking things over will reveal plenty.
